SheSails Working Group

The event organizers of the inaugural Combined Club's Women's Keelboat Regatta, a working group on behalf of the Combined Clubs Committee made up of volunteers, with the exception of DSS Sailing Manager Colleen Darcy. Colleen was the main driver of the event going above and beyond her usual job requirements to ensure the success of the event. The event was promoted to all Tasmanian clubs with regatta entries hitting capacity within 2 weeks. The presentation dinner post racing also hit capacity and included 3 quality inspirational speakers: Kate Warner, Tiffany Cherry, Jessica Watson. 

Colleen and the group delivered an on water event that captured the interest of females across the state, providing a platform for females to compete at high level, represent their clubs and compete on a level playing field. This style of competition caters for the competitive female sailors and provides a pathway for girls emerging the sport. 
The format and club facilities allowed mums to compete and enjoy attend the presentation dinner with their families, creating a great social and inclusive environment. 

Feedback from all involved was very positive and has likely created an annual event in the Tasmanian sailing calendar.
