Counting down to Steering the Course
Published Mon 06 Sep 2021
With less than one month until World Sailing’s Steering the Course week, Australian Sailing is shining the spotlight on the various ways that clubs can get involved. We have also locked in the final details surrounding our SheSails National Conference event.
For clubs planning their own Steering the Course event, World Sailing have provided the following resources:
- Steering the Course Event handbook
- Steering the Course Brand guidelines - Clubs taking part can also request cobranding by emailing Catherine Duncan at World Sailing.
- Steering the Course bib design - Your club may like to have some bibs produced locally for events.
The SheSails National conference event agenda has been finalised with a few updates to the lineup. We are delighted to announce that Vice President of World Sailing Sarah Kenny will be joining the event to say a few words on behalf of World Sailing.
Jessica Watson will no longer be speaking at the event due to personal reasons; our thoughts are with her and on behalf of the entire SheSails community we wish her courage, strength and comfort.
Sarah Styles, Director of the Office for Women in Sport and Recreation is confirmed as the events flagship speaker and will tackle the topics of:
- Establishing a stronger, inclusive narrative for women - why gender diversity so important, covering a women’s journey to the top of the table and how women offer a different set of eyes and different skills as well as how to navigate it all!
- The value of sport – it is greater than simply the ‘game’. Networks, friendships and cross-cultural communication - together with career and personal growth opportunities - all contribute to the tremendous value of sport.
We also look forward to sharing some inspirational stories delivered by SheSails representatives from across Australia.
