Meeting like minded parents and others of all ages.
Getting on the water and sailing myself or supporting the kids.
Being given the platform to teach my own children about what is means to be a good sports person and contribute to society both time and energy.
Seeing kids overcome their challenges and achieve. This puts the biggest smile on my own face.

What would you say to someone thinking about getting into sailing?

Join do - what are you waiting for.
This sport is so inclusive and the people at all levels love what they do.
The junior sailors learn so much and the opportunities they have to travel, meet people, learn, become independent, kind and resilient, is beyond. Life skills for life.

Tell us your favourite story ….
First race of the 2021 AIODA championships my two kids firstly going out in 20+ knot winds in the biggest fleet they had sailed in ever. Proud parent moment number one. Then to top it all off when my daughter sails in with some much joy because that her brother had won the very first race- proud moment number two. Then when my son finally sails into shore (he waited for the last sailors to finish the race before he headed in) we as a family go to celebrate his achievement - proud moment number three. Coming from a little town in the middle of Central Qld this is big for us. I want to sincerely thank everyone who has supported our family along the way because if it wasn't for them, then we wouldn't have had this moment that I will cherish for the rest of my life. Thank you!
