How long have you been in the sport of Sailing?
As long as I can remember

What Club, Association or company are you involved with?
Dinah Beach Cruising Yachting Association, Darwin Sailing Club,  Multihull Association Northern Territory

What Part do you play in our sport?
sailor,instructor,coach,committee member,volunteer

Tell us how you first got involved with Sailing.
My family went sailing every Sunday, I grew up on the water and started out on the pickup boat with my Dad.  As soon as I could I was on the Mary River in a little PClass, happy as Larry, then when it came to sailing in the ocean I was petrified.  Thankfully I got over that!

There are many pathways in sailing, where has your journey taken you?
I’ve been really blessed with the opportunities of sailing:  off the beach/river, sailing the Sandy Straights with my teenage bestie, instructing, overseas racing, offshores, deliveries, championship regattas, representing DSC.

Whatever part of sailing you belong to, tell us about what you enjoy about your sport?
In addition to the connection to the sea and the elements, the fact there is always something new to learn, the resilience it teaches you (the only way home is to sail there all things being well), the exhilaration of getting your boat in that sweet spot.

What would you say to someone thinking about getting into sailing?

Say yes to every invitation to go sailing you can, if you don’t have the best day on the water with one crew don’t let it put you off, just find another boat.  Do as many different positions on the boat you can, don’t be scared to helm it’s not as hard as you think.

Tell us your favourite story ….
Ambon 2019, the reason we restored our beloved Cocktoo, to relive her former glory of Ambon Record Holder, well at least do the race again.   We practiced, we recruited, and we even got the shirts and we were off.
