How long have you been in the sport of Sailing?

Three and a half years

What Club, Association or company are you involved with?

Woollarah Sailing Club and the Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron

What part do you play in our sport? (eg. Sailor, club volunteer, committee member)

Sailor

Tell us how you first got involved with Sailing

I first got involved with the sport of sailing at a Tackers holiday camp on Sydney harbour.

There are many pathways in sailing, where has your journey taken you?

As an optimist dingy sailor I have sailed in regattas across NSW, the ACT and recently competed in my first international regatta at the 41st Lake Garda meeting at Lake Garda, Italy.

Whatever part of sailing you belong to, tell us about what you enjoy about your sport?

I love the independence I have as a sailor. I enjoy sailing interdependently and as part of a team.  I have visited places I might not have gone to if it hadn't been for sailing.  I'd love to sail every day if I could as it makes me feel calm and happy.

What would you say to someone thinking about getting into sailing?

Don't look back, just do it! You can't make any mistakes.

Tell us your favourite story ….

My favourite story would have to be sailing on Lake Garda with over 1200 Opti sailors from all over the world.  A highlight was my first race on the second day of the regatta.  My first day of racing wasn't easy but I pulled it together and after reasonable start I managed to 'hit the wall' early and got the 'shore effect' all the way to the top mark- this was the first time it happened.
