How long have you been in the sport of Sailing?
27 Years

What Club, Association or company are you involved with?
Darwin Sailing Club, Dinah Beach Cruising Yachting Association, Townsville Yacht Club

Sailor, Official, Committee member, volunteer

Tell us how you first got involved with Sailing.
I was introduced to sailing in 1993, at the age of 25, with a 6 month cruise on Atlantis II (Roberts Mauritius 43) with my father & brother from Two Rocks, WA to Townsville, QLD via Darwin...  I had never sailed before & that trip ignited a passion.

There are many pathways in Sailing where has your journey taken you?

I have raced & cruised around Australia & Indonesia, visited places few people get to see, participated in Regattas all around Australia, made tonnes of new friends, managed crews of women attending interstate competitions & given back to the sport by volunteering.

Whatever part of sailing you belong to, tell us about what you enjoy about your sport?
I love introducing people (especially women) to our sport, guiding, training, supporting & watching the huge smiles of accomplishment as they learn something new or master a technique...

What would you say to someone thinking about getting into sailing?

Just do it!  Chat to people at your local club, do a beginners course, go out for a sail.

Tell us your favourite story ….
Anchoring at Monkey Mia in WA we launched the dinghy & headed to shore.  The local dolphins surrounded the dinghy, gave us an escort to the beach & hung around for belly rubs.  Absolutely magical to be so close...
