Tell us how you first got involved with Sailing.
Keelboat racing on Sydney Harbour.
There are many pathways in sailing, where has your journey taken you?
From crewing in keelboat racing to Tasar dinghy racing for 2-3 years with my husband. Then in Europe, we campaigned a Class 40 for 2 years, culminating in entry into the Transat Jacques Vabre 2013 (finished 21st). Currently, we have an old Mini Transat 6.50 at RYCV, which we have fixed up to race readiness when Covid happened.
Whatever part of sailing you belong to, tell us about what you enjoy about your sport?
Pushing yourself, working with nature (observing sea conditions, predicting weather, understanding currents) and getting your boat to polars, and of course enjoying the comradery of fellow yachties.
What would you say to someone thinking about getting into sailing?
Do it - it is a life long journey of learning about yourself, how to sail, nature and meeting wonderful people.
Tell us your favourite story ….
Crossing the finish line at Itajai, Brazil! The effort just to get to the start line of the Transat Jacques Vabre was huge. And the race was also huge (and very hard). The euphoria of finishing was immense, the absolute joy of achieving something which had seemed such an insurmountable goal.
