Published Thu 04 Mar 2021
How long have you been in the sport of Sailing?
1 year
What Club, Association or company are you involved with?
Mordialloc Sailing Club
What Part do you play in our sport?
Sailor
Tell us how you first got involved with Sailing.
I had never sailed before but one liveaboard sailing trip and I was hooked! We moved to Melbourne and now live near a sailing club to start learning (at age 36!).
There are many pathways in sailing, where has your journey taken you?
I have now completed the Start Sailing 1 and 2 courses and have begun Better Sailing 1. I even got to skipper a pacer in my first club race last weekend and had the opportunity to crew on a 22 foot monohull yacht in a friendly race. So fun!
Whatever part of sailing you belong to, tell us about what you enjoy about your sport?
The feeling of being out on the water in the sun and fresh air is invigorating. Every day on the boat is different, the water conditions, the wind, the weather, but it is always exciting!
What would you say to someone thinking about getting into sailing?
I'd love to see more women on the water so come along to a club and say hello. If you love being outdoors and on the water there's a good chance you'll love it. Give it a try!
