Lisa Darmanin to join SheSails National Leadership Conference

Dual Olympian and Rio silver medalist, Lisa Darmanin is confirmed to join next week’s SheSails National Leadership Conference. Lisa will discuss her experience as a female sailor who has progressed to the ultimate elite level.
Held as a component of World Sailing’s Steering the Course festival, the SheSails National Leadership Conference will take place on Wednesday 6th October from 6PM AEST – 7.30PM AEST. The event is Australian Sailing’s inaugural national conference which is designed to bring together SheSails club representatives to champion women in sailing and empower them to reach their full potential.
Lisa joins a strong line up of speakers whom are set to inspire the sailing community. Director for the Office for Women and Sport, Sarah Styles will discuss the importance of establishing a stronger, inclusive environment for female participation as well as shedding light on the value of sport for networks, friendships, career and personal growth.
The event will highlight some of the inclusion success stories from around the country via the ‘Around the Grounds’ component.

6:00 – 6:10pm: Welcome and introductions from Australian Sailing & World Sailing
6:10 – 6:40pm: SheSails Around the grounds: inspirational SheSails stories from around Australia
6:40 – 7:05pm: Sarah Styles, Director of the Office for Women in Sport and Recreation will present:
Establishing a stronger, inclusive narrative for women - why gender diversity so important, covering a women’s journey to the top of the table and how women offer a different set of eyes and different skills as well as how to navigate it all!
The value of sport – it is greater than simply the ‘game’. Networks, friendships and cross-cultural communication - together with career and personal growth opportunities - all contribute to the tremendous value of sport.
7:05pm – 7:25pm: Lisa Darmanin – Dual Olympian (Rio & Tokyo) to discuss how she has seen female involvement in sailing change, how women have supported her along the journey and how she believes women can support women within sailing.
7:25 – 7:30pm: SheSails Resources and Wrap Up
