SheSails from strength to strength at the Princess Royal Sailing Club
Published Tue 23 Jun 2020
Restrictions being lifted means sailing is back on the program. Princess Royal Sailing Club in Albany is keen to get their program back underway. Launching off their success with the SheSails program they’ve introduced the Blokes on Boats initiative.
Australian Sailing and associated clubs are increasingly becoming more and more creative with initiatives and targeted programs. The She Sails program is designed to promote and celebrate female participation in the sport of sailing. Provide new and existing female sailors with the opportunity to enjoy activities at their local sailing club with like-minded people.
Providing clubs with visual materials and case studies to help and develop female participation in recreational and competitive sailing and develop a platform to feature female-focused events and programs across the country. Mid 2019, PRSC ran a Keelboat Instructor course and as a result now have 11 instructors of which over a third are female. Since late 2019, 35 sailors have graduated the Australian Sailing Start Crewing and Start Helming qualification. The Blokes on Boats initiative strives to use this proven community engagement tool to spread the benefits of our loved sport to even more members and their guests.
