Seventy-five years ago come December, two daring women took part in the second running of the Sydney Hobart Yacht Race, paving the way for other women to contest the 628 nautical mile race in a sport that was considered a 'man's domain'.
The inaugural Northern Territory Women’s Keelboat Regatta was held over the 15 & 16 August from Darwin Sailing Club.  Final figures had 80 sailors, making up 13 crews over 3 divisions.
Please note, due to the current COVID-19 public health advice and the safety plan adopted by Double Bay Sailing Club, the format of the regatta will be different from previous years.
Dues to the AWKR being cancelled the 4 x NT teams were looking for something to fill that space. It was the biggest team NT had ever mustered and they would not let COVID stop them coming up with the NTWKR event that kicks off this Saturday 15th August.
